There’s an end to everything. We all like to think that what we have now we’ll have forever, but that’s not the case. That’s why you have to look at everything in your life now, and cherish it. This goes especially for family and the ones we love. I never let anything get in the way of cherishing them. Nothing else is important. Everything comes to end, including us.
There’s an end to everything, so cherish what’s important now.

Nothing made me realize this more than the San Francisco budget cuts to the Department of Public Health. After 21 years as a forensic nurse in the child sexual abuse agency, my position was suddenly eliminated. At 64-1/2, with a mobility disability, no other nursing positions were available to me so I had to retire, changing my life radically. Besides the $100,000 drop in my income, it was the first time in 45 years, I was no longer in nursing. I am still in mourning ten months later. I loved my work and the children and I wasn’t ready yet for being put out to pasture. I love my family and friends but not being part of my nursing family is so sad for me.
