I do think it is very important to learn to savor even the smallest things. We've forgotten how to do that in our constant quest, it seems, for bigger and better things.

Looking forward to something special makes me happy too. Spending time with family and friends really makes me happy. Hearing a certain type of music swells my heart with joy, as does a kind word or smile from someone.

Walking through the bush this morning, I noticed a different bird-song than I'm accustomed to. I followed the direction of it and found several tiny baby birds flitting from branch to branch. Their husky cheeping reminded me of the cry of a newborn. How could I have reached the ripe old age of 35++ without ever having experienced baby birds in the wild? I stood there in wonder and gratitude, marveling at the fluffy, brand new feathers on these tiny scraps of wonder.
Nature still makes me happy after all these years.
